GAMEBOY ADVANCE SP HACK

Did you ever think it would be a cool idea to launch a game and another screen would pop up displaying the controls? Well guess what folks I did it with a simple GBA LCD screen.

Yeah I know you are all dying to know how I did it. Patience is a virtue and soon you will be well rewarded. Didn't want you to come here if there isn't anything to see so I'll show you some more pictures to keep you interested. I can also post any image of in game controls you need if you want to see other pictures. So far I'm up to around 400 so I'm moving slowly in my GBA.ROM files. I figured I get this page moving for now...very sorry for the false alarm :)

Each screenshot is edited into a GBA.ROM that allows the GBA to receive a signal from the launched game to display the controls. It's a crazy process of creating a layout then making a .ROM and finally linking it to a MAME or any emulator of your choice. A ROM builder would be an excellent program for this but that would take a very long time.

I tried different layouts, formats and text for displaying the controls and the in game title screen large enough for the players to see. Some cool fonts came to me a little while ago and I may try to throw them into different style games. I thought a nice addition of in game characters to fill the bottom area on less text ridden games would be a nice touch. The best mounting was vertical allowing for more space for text and the ability to create a screenshot to the correct aspect ratio.

Ripping the GBA is an easy process just be careful with the internals and everything should be a piece of cake. You could figure other ways to mount it without removing anything. I really didn't want to be bothered and the ability to mount the screen vertical makes the "whole" install harder then say a horizontal or reverse horizontal install.
