6 HEAD LED SPEAKER LIGHTING

So you bought backlit speakers and really do not prefer the way they look with only a marquee light? Read on to see what I did to make your cabinet stand out even more.

BULBS FOR LIGHTING

I decided to add even more LED's into my arcade cabinet. Since my speakers are backlit (Blaupunkt TS-542 5 1/4 Coaxial) I bought similar color LED's that correspond to the surrounding blue cone which work perfect. I decided yet again to purchase (4) 6 head blue LED's from Superbrightleds.com . This time I went with the strongest bulb available (WLED-6 LED bulb 12 VDC 6-LED Wedge Base bulb 194/168 type). Each cost around $3.50 (after upgrading to blue) but well worth it. I have ordered countless LED's from here and the output of the WLED-6 is amazing. You may want to purchase some bulb holders for the LED's but they really are not needed. You can move the contacts from the LED to be parallel to the stranded wire to make soldering easier if you decide to go this route. I would suggest the holders from Happ Control (#42-0351-00) *Please note if you do order you must enter that number at the checkout section since it is a coin door part.* Mounting them inside the cabinet is easier with the holder.

LED PLACEMENT

I positioned the (4) LED's in a West/East type fashion on the back of each speaker (2 on each). I wanted the glow to look consistent and one LED is not enough output considering you have to position it right above the speaker magnet to achieve an "even glow" around the speaker cone. This of course blocks a great majority of the light output.

WIRING

Wiring is very simple and similar to coin door lighting and I'm not going to reiterate it so you can view that procedure on my Coin Door Lighting page.

It looks fantastic!!! Here are the results
